There are plenty of people out there who love to ride the open road with the feeling of the wind against their leather jacket, their motorcycle freshly waxed. However, there may be some riders that you’re not as familiar with identifying. You may be familiar with the traditional groups, and even with the groups that most people talk about in hushed tones. We’ll cover some of the in-between people, who may be fresh to the motorcycle scene, or just love to showboat it up.
Would you consider yourself a normal rider, or do you believe you belong to a special subgroup of the motorcycle community that stands out amongst the rest?
List of Motorcycle Clubs by State
Below is a table compiling the law-abiding bikers by state, with the outlaw bike groups for each state.
For each club, there is a guestimate as to which would be the main club for the state. Of course there are other clubs, but we wanted to keep it simple for now.
There are plenty of other outlaw clubs for each state too. A lot of motorcycle clubs, whether outlaws or law-abiding, have their own websites too, and sites dedicated to explaining the history of each club as well.
For example, if you search for the Banshees motorcycle club, the Iron Order MC, the Diablos MC, or even the Iron Coffins MC, you’ll find plenty of information explaining when they were established. The THEMADONES MC, for example, have their own website where you can read up on their history and what it means to be a member.
So there are plenty of different types of motorcycle riders and groups. This article is going to look at some of the people associated with clubs rather than the groups that tend to have a dangerous reputation.
You certainly would not want to entangle yourself with any of the bikers in the last column.

I’m sure you’ve noticed that there are some people who treat owning a motorcycle a little differently than others. This doesn’t necessarily mean they’re dangerous or someone to avoid, but it can set them apart in a crowd.
We’re going to take a look at some of these types of riders, because they could be people you know, or have seen before in the past.
If, however, you discover yourself on this list, consider what owning a motorcycle means to you, and whether or not you want to continue down that road.

The Person That Wants Everyone to Know They Own a Motorcycle
You love riding around on a motorcycle, but you don’t need to throw it in everyone’s face every five minutes. This type of rider wants everyone to know that they have a bike, that they love that bike, and that riding is life.
The fact that people know that they ride a motorcycle is sometimes even better than owning the bike itself.
You’ve probably seen them hanging around shop car parks with their leathers on, plus they always seem to stop at every gas station. They take selfies, posing with their bike, even if they don’t plan on riding it that day.
The Harley Traditionalist
You can offer a Harley traditionalist any bike in the world, but they will tell you to get lost if it’s not a Harley Davidson, because to them the brand means everything.
There are a lot of them out there, which is probably why most non-motorcycle lovers think of a Harley before any other bike.
Having a favorite type of bike is one thing, but looking down your nose at someone’s pride and joy is another. If you know a traditionalist, sometimes it may be hard to talk to them about bikes, because you won’t always see eye-to-eye.
The DIY Motorcycle Master
Do you know how to fix your motorcycle when something is wrong? It’s possible you know how to deal with some basic problems, but you definitely can’t strip the engine apart and put it back together with a blindfold on.
The DIY master spends more time playing around with their bike than they do actually riding it.
The good news is that they can fix almost any problem, which means they are great people to be friends with. Going to Laconia Motorcycle Week with them could be really fun too, because they would know a great deal about rallies.

The Wild Motorcycle Adventurer
No way a wild motorcycle adventurer would be happy commuting around the city. They would absolutely die of boredom.
They need to be out on the open road exploring every weekend. As soon as they finish work on a Friday it’s unlikely they will get off their bike unless it’s to sleep.
They probably travel abroad whenever they have a holiday because they want to experience wild adventures all over the world. Traveling is the greatest adventure, especially when it’s on their bike.
The Extreme Motorcycle Commuter
The extreme commuter probably takes things a little too seriously. They have so much storage space on their bike, you may think they are riding around with everything they own including their kitchen sink.
When the weather isn’t great, you probably drive your car to work, but nothing will stop these people from jumping on their bike and tackling the elements.
They layer up, slap on the wax, and take to the roads no matter the weather.
The Complete Motorcycle Novice
The complete motorcycle novice is very inexperienced, because they have probably just passed their test, but that doesn’t mean they’re not enthusiastic.
When you see one on the road, you might think it’s cute that they look like a rabbit caught in the headlights, but you worry about them because the mistakes they’re making could easily lead to an accident.
It will take them a while before they’re fully comfortable on the road. With a novice, it’s best to let them practice as much as they can. If you’re friends with one and you’re more experienced, offer them as much helpful information as possible.
